Quick answers and who this is for — in one place.
Is this suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The Summer Intensive is designed for children with no prior musical training. Progress is milestone-based rather than performance-based.
My child is shy / takes time to open up. Is this suitable?
Yes. Our approach builds comfort first, not performance pressure.
My child already attends music class elsewhere — can they still join?
Yes. Children are placed based on developmental readiness rather than prior syllabus completion.
Is this only for children who want to perform?
No. This is a development-focused program.
Will my child learn a song in 10 days?
Possibly — but the focus is not memorisation. We build: beat awareness, finger readiness, musical listening, two-hand coordination readiness. Songs become easier once these are developed.
What measurable progress can I expect?
Children may develop: rhythm stability, finger positioning awareness, instrument confidence, loud/soft control, middle C recognition, two-hand readiness. All progress is shared through Daily Reports.
Will my child be graded or tested?
No formal testing. Progress is tracked through observation.
Why does Whiskar focus on milestones instead of songs?
Because real musical ability develops through: listening, motor readiness, coordination, cognitive rhythm mapping. Songs come naturally after this.
Is this similar to Trinity / ABRSM preparation?
No. This program builds the developmental readiness required before exam-oriented learning.
How will I know what my child is learning daily?
Parents receive a Daily Growth Report via Whiskar Music School.
Can I observe the sessions?
Sessions are child-only to encourage independence. Progress is transparently shared through reports.
What does a typical day include?
Musical exploration, rhythm engagement, instrument interaction, creative listening — balanced to avoid fatigue.
Is this piano only?
No. The program includes: Piano, English Vocal Foundations, Guitar Readiness.
Are instruments provided?
Yes. No purchase required.
What happens if a session is missed?
Milestone tracking ensures continuity.
What happens after 10 days?
Parents receive: Milestone Snapshot, Suggested Next Stage.
Is this a long-term commitment?
No. This is a developmental entry experience.
